The abstracts will be photocopied, without editing, to be included in our abstract booklet to be part of the registration materials distributed at the meeting. See the Abstract Information form for more information about preparing abstracts. Oral papers will be limited to 10 minutes followed by a 5 minute discussion period. Visual aids available for oral presentations will include an overhead projector for transparencies and a 2 x 2 projector for 35mm slides. Poster papers must fit on a 1 meter square area. If special equipment is needed for a presentation, oral or poster, this must be indicated on the Abstract Information form. It may be necessary for the POC to change an oral paper to a poster paper, or to filter the papers in general, if the meeting time is over subscribed. BOFs We are considering having special interest sessions, or BOFs (Birds of a Feather sessions), on the third day. These will be in addition to the user's group meetings already scheduled. Whether or not we will have any BOFs depends upon user interest. An example of a BOF might be another user's group meeting, or a small meeting on a special topic. Anyone wishing to sponsor a BOF should contact the conference organizers. PROCEEDINGS The proceedings of the Conference will be published as part of the Astronomical Society of the Pacific Conference Series. Information on the format and the due date for the printed paper will be sent after the abstract deadline in a later mailing. It may be necessary for the POC to screen the papers for the the published proceedings if the number of papers is too large for a reasonably sized and reasonably priced volume. Each registered participant will receive a copy of the published proceedings as part of the registration fee. WEATHER November is generally a very pleasant month in Tucson with a touch of fall in the air. However, November can also bring some surprises in the way of short but chilly winter storms! Expect temperatures in the low 40's (F.) in the evening and around 70 during the day (but remember those possible winter storms that could bring some rain and cooler temperatures!) MEALS The hotel has a pleasant indoor/outdoor restaurant, the Cafe Dorado, and there are numerous other restaurants within a short to moderate walking distance from the hotel. SPECIAL EVENTS Several social events have been planned during and after the conference. A Conference Reception is planned for Tuesday evening, November 5, at the Radisson Suite Hotel. A Conference Banquet is planned Thursday evening, November 7, at Charles, one of the more elegant restaurants in Tucson and just a short walk from the Radisson. The banquet will be a buffet with flaming Baked Alaska served at the table for dessert. It is necessary to make and pay for your banquet reservations along with your Conference registration. We will have few, if any, banquet tickets available at the Conference itself. Seating is limited so get your registration materials in early!
