Fourth Annual Conference on ASTRONOMICAL DATA ANALYSIS SOFTWARE AND SYSTEMS September 26-28, 1994 Baltimore, Maryland USA Dear Colleague, The proceedings of the Fourth Annual Conference on Astronomical Data Analysis Software and Systems will be published as part of the Astronomical Society of the Pacific Conference Series. So that the published volume remains a manageable size it will be necessary to enforce strict page limits: invited papers will be limited to 10 pages while contributed oral talks and poster papers will be limited to 4 pages. All papers must include abstracts. The text of the paper in LaTeX and any Encapsulated PostScript graphics files should be deposited by anonymous ftp to the node ra.stsci.edu in the directory pub/adass/papers. (Note that although you are allowed to write to this directory, you are not allowed to list its contents. This is to comply with the NASA Science Internet guidelines on world-writeable directories under anonymous ftp accounts.) Identify the LaTeX copy by using the last name plus the first name initial of the first author, e.g., hanischr.tex. Any EPS files should be identified in a similar way, e.g., hanischr1.eps, hanischr2.eps. Please make sure that the references to the EPS files in your manuscript use these SAME names for the figure files. Authors with multiple papers will need to indicate this as well, e.g., crabtreed1.tex, crabtreed1_1.eps. Please send a email message to adass4_editors@stsci.edu telling us the names of the files you have deposited. As an alternative to anonymous ftp, you may send your LaTeX file and Encapsulated PostScript files as separate mailings to adass4_editors@stsci.edu. In addition to using one of the two electronic submission methods just described, please send us one hard copy of the paper, complete with graphics, and copies of any illustrations at production size that were not provided electronically by regular mail to Harry Payne, ST ScI, 3700 San Martin Drive, Baltimore MD 21218, USA. At least six keywords appropriate for your paper should be included with the electronic copy. The deadline for receiving your manuscript is *October 28, 1994*. If we receive manuscripts after that date, we can not guarantee that they will be included in the published proceedings. Electronic markup (LaTeX) and submission instructions are available by anonymous ftp from the node "ra.stsci.edu" in the directory pub/adass/proceedings/. A README file contains information about the contents of the directory and directions for preparing your paper. As with past Proceedings, we will select one figure from the submitted manuscripts to use on the cover of the volume. And, as with past Proceedings, we will prepare an electronic version for the World Wide Web. See the Users's Guide (adassman.tex) for instructions on specifying URLs in your manuscript, so that they become actual hypertext links in the electronic version. If you have any questions about the Proceedings please send electronic mail to adass4_editors@stsci.edu or contact one of the editors. Sincerely, The Editors Harry Payne (STScI) Dick Shaw, STScI payne@stsci.edu shaw@stsci.edu Jeffrey Hayes, STScI hayes@stsci.edu
