These Proceedings were prepared with LaTeX using a style file customized for the ASP Conference Series. The style file, instructions for its use, and sample files, are available from the ASP Conference Series office or by anonymous FTP to ftp.noao.edu in the tex directory.
All authors submitted their manuscripts electronically to the editors, either by depositing the files in a designated anonymous FTP area or by electronic mail. Of the 131 papers in this volume all but 3 were submitted with the proper LaTeX markup; the 3 were submitted as ASCII text and were converted easily by the editors to the preferred LaTeX style.
67 of the papers submitted were accompanied by 132 figures. Of these, 5 papers had figures that needed to be cut and pasted in the final printed copy. 123 figures (62 papers) were submitted as PostScript files that were processed as part of the final printed volume.
Most of the front and back matter for the book was generated electronically from the papers submitted by the authors. A database of pertinent information about each paper was maintained, and the table of contents, author index, and subject index were derived from it. The participant list was formatted from a straight ASCII file. The overall pagination of the volume was determined by software after the papers were edited and ordered, and the running heads were applied by LaTeX using standard markup commands.
Thus, except for the 9 figures that needed to be cut and pasted, the entire book was generated electronically, from either author supplied materials or from files provided by the editors. The software used to generate this book is available for general use by contacting the ASP Conference Series office.
The electronic Proceedings were generated from the LaTeX files using LaTeX2HTML. The editors would especially like to thank Mike Fitzpatrick (NOAO/IRAF) for providing the search engine (glimpse).
