# by the NOAO/IRAF group.  See /contrib for additional layered packages
# (or other IRAF and non-IRAF software) maintained by outside groups or

# NOTICE:  Binaries for various platforms are provided for certain packages.
# All packages should build from source but users may request binaries by
# contacting site support at iraf@noao.edu.  Binaries are distributed in
# compressed tar files of the form

# or		<package>-bin.<arch>.gz		# gzip compressed

# To make use of these files first unpack the source tarfile and then from
# the same toplevel package directory unpack the binary archive, the
# "bin.<arch>" directory will be created automatically.  For example, to
# install the CTIO package and pre-built binaries for Solaris:

#    % cd /iraf/extern/ctio			    # go there
#    % zcat /path/ctio.tar.Z | tar -xf -	    # unpack sources

# NOTE: this model of installing pre-built binaries differs from previous
# releases where it was necessary to create the bin directory and unpack
# the bin dirs there.  Beginning with the IRAF V2.12 all external packages

# declare the package in the hlib$extern.pkg file.  Users who are building
# from source should consult the <pkg>.readme file for detailed installation
