Sun/IRAF Site Manager's Guide
Sun/IRAF Site Manager's Guide
The graphics and image display tools provided with IRAF operate within the
SunView windowing environment much like the standard tools provided with
SunView. To help illustrate the use of these tools, Sun/IRAF is distributed
with a sample SunView environment already configured for the IRAF account.
This consists of the following files in the IRAF account login directory,
iraf$local.
.defaults
- Sets up the defaults for how the window system looks, e.g., enables the
custom rootmenu file.
.rootmenu
- An example of a sophisticated, multilevel custom rootmenu, including
entries for gterm and imtool.
.suntools
- Defines a screen layout that includes gterm and imtool windows, including
sizing and positioning the graphics window.
.sunview
- Same as the
.suntools file, which Sun plans to rename
to .sunview in a future version of SunOS.
.ttyswrc
- Defines some function keys for tty subwindows (gterm).
No one screen layout will suit all users or all applications.
Everyone will wish to customize the workstation screen to suit their
preferences and the type of work they are doing, but it is recommended
that users copy these files to serve as a starting point.
