VMS/IRAF Installation and Site Manager's Guide
In this section we discuss some DECwindows/VMS and Motif/VMS (X window
system) utilities for use with IRAF running on VMS workstations. Further
information can be found in the file 0readme in the [IRAF.VMS.X11]
directory. Note that VMS/IRAF can also be used with an X user interface
running on a remote UNIX workstation, with only VMS/IRAF running on the VMS
host. This section is relevant only if you need to run the X clients
directly on a VMS host. We discuss only xterm and saoimage here
since these were the only X clients available for graphics and image display
at the time this was written, but newer facilties may be available before
this document is again revised. Check with the IRAF group for more current
information on support for graphics and imaging under the X window system.
