GEMINI Package V1.5 Released

Gemini V1.5 Released

The Gemini IRAF package v1.5 has been released. You can find links to the new version of the reduction software on http://www.gemini.edu/sciops/data/dataIndex.html follow the links to "Overview" and "Releases". This new version of the Gemini IRAF package requires IRAF 2.12.2-BETA (2nd release dated Jan 2, 2004). The web pages also contain information about the external packages required to run the Gemini IRAF package.

The primary revisions in this release of the Gemini IRAF package are:

• Tasks have been ported to IRAF 2.12.2.
• New mkpkg supporting configuration for multiple architectures.
• New package for mid-IR imaging data (gemini.midir).
  • This new package offers support for T-ReCs and Michelle data.
• New tasks in the gmos and niri packages.
• New functionalities/parameters.
  • In particular, the GMOS package now supports GMOS-South data, with the exception of GMOS-S IFU data which are not supported with this release.
• Bug fixes

When the final version of IRAF 2.12.2 is released, we will test the Gemini IRAF package under IRAF 2.12.2 and if needed release an update.

We recommend that users who need reduction software for GMOS-S and/or T-ReCS+Michelle, upgrade to the Gemini IRAF package v1.5 (and IRAF 2.12.2-BETA) at this point. The package is also be available from the NOAO/IRAF ftp site in the directory containing contributed packages, and from sites that mirror the NOAO/IRAF ftp site.
